Learning through problem solving

In Rodocodo, children are not given the answers.

Instead, each unit begins with a short video that introduces the concept and models how to think about the levels that follow.

Your child is then encouraged to:

• apply what they’ve seen
• experiment
• make mistakes
• try again

This helps them build the confidence to solve problems independently.

Many coding platforms focus on completing levels or following step-by-step instructions.

In these environments, when something doesn’t work, children often don’t have the tools to work out why.

Rodocodo is designed differently.

Children are not just given tasks to complete. They are taught how to:

Dedicated debugging levels introduce these skills early, so children learn how to fix problems themselves.

They can then apply these same techniques across all other levels.

How learning is structured

Rodocodo is organised into courses, units, and levels.

• Courses are made up of multiple units
• Each unit focuses on a specific coding concept, such as loops, functions, sequencing, or debugging
• Each unit contains a series of levels that allow your child to practise and apply what they’ve learned

Working through levels in order helps your child build a strong understanding step by step.

Each level is rated with up to 3 stars, showing how well your child understands it:

• 3 stars: full understanding

How you can support your child

The videos at the start of each unit are a useful reference point.

If your child gets stuck, you can help by:

• reminding them of techniques shown in the video
• reminding them of the tools and approaches they learned in the debugging units
• encouraging them to apply those problem-solving techniques to other levels
• asking what they think might work next
• encouraging them to keep trying

Avoid giving the answer. Figuring things out is an important part of the learning process.

Progress you can trust

As your child works through the courses, their progress reflects their understanding, not just completion.

This means you can feel confident they are building real skills as they learn.

Viewing your child’s login details

To see your child’s username and login details:

1. Log in at https://www.rodocodo.com/admin
2. Go to the Your Children section
3. View their username and login information or click on Print Login Cards

You can share these details with your child so they can log in and continue learning.

Resetting your child’s password

If your child forgets their password, you can set a new one:

1. Log in at https://www.rodocodo.com/admin
2. Go to the Your Children section
3. Click on the Edit button
4. Enter their new password and click Update save the new password

Your child can then log in using their updated password.

Logging in as your child

You can also log in as your child directly:

1. Log in at https://www.rodocodo.com/admin
2. Go to the Your Children section
3. Select Log in as child

This is useful if your child is using a shared device or needs help getting started.

Resetting your own password

If you can’t access your parent account:

1. Go to https://www.rodocodo.com/admin
2. Select Forgot password?
3. Enter your email address
4. Follow the link in the email to create a new password

If you don’t see the email, check your spam or junk folder and try again.

Rodocodo (main app)

This is the full version of Rodocodo.

It includes:

• all courses and levels
• progress tracking across devices
• the ability to create and manage child accounts

Your child should use the main Rodocodo app for learning even if using the free content.

Rodocodo: Code Hour

Code Hour is a simplified version designed for quick access.

It:

• does not require an account or login
• includes a limited set of activities
• saves progress on the device being used

However, progress in Code Hour is not linked to an account, so it cannot be continued on a different device.

Which one should my child use?

If your child has an account, they should use the main Rodocodo app.

This allows them to:

• save their progress
• continue learning across different devices
• work through courses in order

Code Hour is best used for:

• trying Rodocodo before creating an account
• short, one-off activities

Accessing Rodocodo

Rodocodo is available on web, iOS, and Android. Both versions can be used on any device.

For full access and saving progress across devices, your child should use the main Rodocodo app.

Sign up

Go to the Rodocodo sign-up page and enter:

• your email address
• a password

Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll receive a verification email.

Verify your email

Open the email and click the verification link.

This confirms your account and allows you to continue setting things up.

Finish setting up your account

After verifying your email, you’ll be taken back to Rodocodo to complete setup.

From there, you can add your child and get them started.

What happens next

Once your account is ready, the next step is to:

Add your child and log them in

This will give your child access to Rodocodo so they can begin learning.

Adding your child

After logging in, you’ll be guided to create a child account.

You’ll need to enter:

• a username for your child
• their name
• a password

Once saved, your child’s account will be ready to use straight away.

Log in as your child

After creating the account, you’ll see your child’s login details.

You can:

• log in as your child directly, or
• return to the login page and enter their username and password

Make sure you keep a record of these details so your child can log in again later.

What your child will see

When logged in, your child will go straight into the game and can begin learning immediately.

They’ll start at the beginning of their course and work through levels step by step.

Switching between parent and child

You can switch between your parent account and your child’s account at any time by logging out and back in with the correct details.

If your child can’t log in

Double-check:

• the username is entered correctly
• the password is correct

If needed, you can reset your child’s password from your parent account.

Where your child should start

Most children can simply press play and begin.

Start from the beginning

Children should begin at the first level of their course and work through in order.

They won’t be able to skip ahead, and that’s intentional. The courses are designed to build skills step by step, so each level prepares them for the next.

Choosing the right course

Rodocodo includes both free and premium courses.

Free courses

All accounts have access to:

• Junior (ages 4–7)
• Explorer: Part 1 (ages 7–11)
• Explorer: Part 2 (ages 7–11)

These are a good way for your child to get started and explore coding.

Premium courses

With a premium subscription, your child also has access to:

• Foundations (ages 4–7)
• Fundamentals (ages 7–11)

These follow a more structured progression and cover the same content as the school curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6.

If your child has access to premium, it’s best for them to start here, as these courses provide a smoother and more complete learning journey.

Not sure where to begin?
